In its annual ranking of cities and towns from around the country, MoneySense Magazine placed the community in the top spot of places to live in the York Region, and situated it at 23rd of 209 from across Canada. This is a rise of eight places from last year.
The mayor of Newmarket, Tony Van Bynen, remarked that he is not surprised, as he has always knows that it is a special place to live. He also noted that the council will continue to work hard to ensure it stays at the top by taking steps to make it even more livable and thriving, and congratulated the efforts so far.
