As the colder days arrive, Newmarket’s Inn From the Cold has opened its doors again for another year of helping people in the community. Organizers have also put out a call looking for volunteers to assist.
The organization provides a place for the homeless to go so they do not have to spend their nights out in the cold, but it also runs a catering company named ‘Eat Inn Catering’, which not only helps to fund the program, but also provides food service training for those who take part.
There is also a six-week woodworking internship program. The goal is to give people a chance to get back on their feet without having to worry about where they are going to stay for the night.
According to the chairperson of the group’s board of directors, all of this is possible because of a group of very dedicated staff and volunteers, but further help is still needed. He is asking any adults who are interested in helping out to get in touch and find out more information.
The shelter is located at 510 Penrose Street in Newmarket, and is funded by donations, government grants, and the Eat Inn Catering revenues.
Now that its doors are open for another year, flyer printing companies can help to get the word out to those who need it. They can produce items that can be placed where the people who can most use their services will be sure to see them.
