Newmarket plans summer movie screenings

Newmarket is about to experience a taste of the bygone era of the drive-in when it welcomes an initiative that will showcase movies on the big outdoor screen.

The Moonlight Movies series, which is being presented thanks to support from TD Bank, will be adding some extra fun to the month of August. They will be screened in several parks in the community, and the selection of flicks is still under construction.

Community members as well as visitors who are interested are invited to bring a blanket or folding chair, and snacks and drinks are welcome. As the activities will take place outdoors, insect repellent is recommended as well as flashlights. There will be an accessible washroom on site, and each event will kick off with a meet and greet with one of Newmarket’s ward councillors. All those under 12 will need to have someone who is at least 16 years old attend with them.

Outdoor movie nights are a popular summer activity in many cities and towns, and they are often well attended. Poster printing companies can help get the word out by preparing cinema style marking materials.

Newmarket will be running its Moonlight Movies on dates from August 6th to August 28th. A full listing of the timings, venues, titles and the councillor who will be attending is available on the community's website.
