Newmarket launches revamped website

The Newmarket town website now greets its users with a brand new look and feel.

The site recently received an overhaul to make it more compatible with a variety of users. It can now be accessed by laptops, desktop computers, tablets and other mobile devices. Those using the site will be able to use its new Google search ability, and all the pages are in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, which means that it will be usable by anyone. One of the design enhancements has been to put the top three searches on the landing page, making them as easy to find as possible.

To help make it as simple as possible to use the site, a printing company can include a QR code that links to it on the town’s promotional materials and other printed items.

A new website dealing with economic development for the town was also launched. It has been designed to provide a more customized approach for those who use it.

According to the Mayor, these upgrades were part of the town’s response to a community survey that indicated that many people in the community feel that online communication is vital to them. He hopes that the changes will help to meet this request and that the plan is to keep looking for new and better ways to interact with area residents through social media and other means.

The total cost for the project came in a $66,000.
