Newmarket hosts walk for MS

People from all over Newmarket recently came out to help raise money to support those living with multiple sclerosis.

The annual Mandarin Walk wound its way along a five kilometer route, beginning at the Riverwalk Commons and old Community Center. People walked individually or in teams, raising both funds and awareness of the disease and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

A special guest who came out for the day was Gabrielle Daleman, who is a national figure skating champion. She not only participated in the walking portion of the day, but also signed autographs and gave out stuffed animals to her fans who had come to get a chance to meet her. A poster printing firm can create Posters and other items that can be signed, and they can also Print Banners and other signage for the trail where people will be walking.

According to Dalemen, at the national skating competition, fans threw stuffed animals out onto the ice, and she wanted to share those as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those who lent a hand to help the cause.

The community’s mayor, MPP and local councillor Joe Sponga, cut the ribbon that marked the official start of the walk. According to reports, hundreds of people ended up coming out to participate and show their support for those living with MS.
