An organization dedicated to the preservation of Newmarket history is looking for residents to contribute their memories and artifacts of the current, unusual point in time.
The Newmarket Historical Society has put out a call for items that could be included in archival records about the COVID-19 issue and current period of physical distancing. Its focus is on positive stories, with an eye to everyday behaviour and heroism. The organization is collecting news articles and photographs, and is looking for Newmarket citizens to contribute letters, artworks, games and “at home” activities, along with oral and written stories.
The Society aims to study not just the history of Newmarket but also larger national and international trends as the town has experienced them. They maintain an archival collection housed in the Elman W. Campbell Museum, which could include artifacts of the coronavirus in the future, and typically holds monthly meeting for the public to learn about particular topics.
Historical collections like these can include items like correspondence, Letterheads, Promotional Products and other types of memorabilia. The society has also released publications ranging from Stories of the Rebellion of 1837 in Old York County to spooky stories and ghostly accounts from Newmarket and Vicinity.
The Newmarket Historical Society encourages those interested in sharing their stories or items to contact the society through e-mail.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products Get a Free Quote for Letterheads
