The town of Newmarket is bidding a fond farewell to a long-time employee, while extending a warm welcome to his successor.
After 24 years of service, Rob Prentice has made the decision to retire.
In his place, the town has hired Peter Noehammer, P.Eng.
Mr. Noehammer will be filling the position of the Commissioner of Development and Infrastructure Services.
He is coming into the role after many years in both the public and private sectors. In his recent position, he was the Director of Scarborough District Transportation Services and worked for that city since 1996.
During his employment with Scarborough, he was responsible for a variety of tasks, including overseeing winter maintenance operations, operating budget reviews, acting as the advocate for health and safety, reviewing LRT projects, and overseeing the Rouge Urban Park roadway agreement.
Before joining the public sector, Mr. Noehammer held the position of Engineer with Proctor/ Redfern, Ltd. and BA Consulting Group, Ltd.
His educational background is centered around civil engineering, as well as public administration, and he is a member of a variety of professional organizations.
