Doane House and Margaret Bahen Hospices will be holding their annual Handbags for Hospice fundraiser this November, using designer Bags to raise money for local medical services.
The event is best known for its wall of designer purses that attendees can purchase. The purses are known to sell out quickly. There will also be luxury handbags for offer in a live auction, and a mystery bag filled with gift items. Visitors can also enter a drawing for a “golden ticket”, which will allow them to take home one of the auction items before it would hit the block.
Handbags for Hospice will also feature a live entertainment aspect, with a master of ceremonies leading the auctions and draws. There will be complementary light food and drink, as well as a cash bar. Events like this often use methods like banner printing and displays to add atmosphere and recognize sponsors.
Funds raised will go towards the two hospices and their community programs designed to help people undergoing end-of-life care and their families in the Newmarket area and beyond. The programs support over 450 people per year. Last year’s event raised $21,000, and this edition is hoping to top it with a $30,000 goal.
Handbags for Hospice 2025 will take place on the evening of November 6 at the Stonehaven Banquet Hall in Aurora.
