Newmarket event will support those with physical disabilities

The Easter Seals Run/Walk is returning to Newmarket this month, and all proceeds will go to support Easter Seals Ontario.

The race, which has been occurring since 1976, is expected to attract at least 1,000 competitors this year.

Participants will have the choice of taking part in a 10K run or a 5K run or walk. Both races are accredited, and all runners and walkers will pay an entry fee, but are also encouraged to gather pledges from family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

Everyone who registers will receive a t-shirt, chip timing, a bib featuring their race number, a free goodie bag, and a finsher’s medal; medals and prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in various age groups, and people will also be able to participate in prize draws.

At the end of the day there will be a party with food, games, and family activities.

Poster printing companies located in the Newmarket area may have been asked to provide materials to help encourage more participants.

The Easter Seals Run/Walk will take place at the Riverwalk Commons on May 25th. Entry fees for runners are $50 for those 18 and over, $35 for 6 to 17-year-olds, and $10 for children aged five and under. For walkers, fees are $45, $30 and $5. For more information, call 416-421-8377 x313.
