The Writers Round will feature country singer-songwriters reflecting on their creative process, as well as performing some of their best songs live. Included in the show is Mallory Johnson, who is nominated for two awards at the 2023 CCMA awards, which will be held nearby in Hamilton, Ontario. Other speakers and performers include veteran Canadian recording artist Marshall Dane, young Saskatoon-based artist Shantaia Poulin, and Ontario’s own Aaron Allen. Event organizers have also teased that special surprise guests may appear. The roundtable will be hosted by Newmarket native Bianca Rollo, herself a musical performer. Seating will be on a first come, first served basis, with the goal of creating an intimate event. Here’s some of what organizers have said about the event so far:
“This is going to be an intimate and magical night of country music with some of the amazing talent that Canada has to offer. “
Songwriter-focused roundtables and concerts are an increasingly popular way of highlighting the art of creation and fostering a deeper connection with the performers, often using everything from banner printing to radio appearances to raise awareness of the event and sometimes featuring big name artists.
The Burning Red Writers Round special edition will take place on the evening of September 12 at the Main Street Music Hall in Newmarket.
