Newmarket competition to showcase pumpkin-carving skills

A popular Newmarket venue will be transformed into a spooky stroll when it gives this coming Halloween’s jack-o'-lanterns one last hurrah.

Members of the public have been invited to join in the fun of this year's Pumpkin Parade, which will showcase the artistic talents of local carvers. Anyone who would like to take part can bring their creative pumpkins to Riverwalk Commons, and both carved and painted entries are welcome.

The pumpkins that are entered will be on display for people to view and enjoy. Members of the public will be invited to vote for their favourite gourd, and prizes will be presented to the top entries. The categories will include Most Creative, Cutest Pumpkin, Scariest Pumpkin and Jack-of-All Lanterns. The winners will each receive a gift card, which they can redeem at any Newmarket eatery they choose. LED tealights will be supplied if needed.

At the end of the competition, the pumpkins will be gathered up and composted so they can be used later as a soil amendment. Prize certificates, gift cards, voting Forms and other items for a friendly competition like this can all be crafted by Stationery printers.

Newmarket will be giving this year's jack-o'-lanterns one last evening in the moonlight on November 1st. They can be dropped off at Riverwalk Commons from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.
