Newmarket citizens to raise money for charities in May

There are two major fundraising events taking place in Newmarket next month: Cops for Cancer and the Run, Walk and Roll for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery. Both aim to raise money for very worthy causes.

Cops for Cancer will raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. Local police officers will be collecting pledges and will shave their heads. It is their way of showing support for those currently going through cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

The third annual Run, Walk and Roll for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery is a 5K walk. As with the previous event, participants collect pledges to take part. This year, funds will be raised for Litegate suspended walking equipment to be used with a treadmill. In addition to the walk, there will be a pancake brunch, musical entertainment, prizes for walkers and a silent auction. Sponsorships are available and silent auction donations are welcomed.

Both events are likely to be advertised through materials such as Flyers, which can be sourced from Newmarket printing companies.

Cops for Cancer will take place at Vaughan Mills Mall on May 4 from 10:00am - 3:00pm. For more information, contact Karen Beaulieu at 905-830-0447 x3833.

Run, Walk and Roll for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery will take place at Fairy Lake Park on May 11 from 9:00am- 1:00pm. Fees are $25 for adults until April 30 or $30 after and $10 for children; there is no fee due for those who raise $200 or more in pledges.
