This October, the Newmarket Art Walk and Studio Tour will mark a major milestone as it celebrates 15 years of welcoming local residents into the world of art.
The event will see artists in a variety of media display their work along Newmarket’s Main Street and in nearby areas. These will include indoor and outdoor displays at venues such as the Community Centre, Newmarket Public Library, Hungry Brew Hops, and more. Dozens of local artists will be represented including jewellery artists, ceramicists, painters, and textile artists. Art walks such as this have become a popular way for local artists and artisans to reach members of their community, showing off everything from classical sculpture to modern graphic design.
The Art Walk is a juried show, with judges selecting the best submissions. The event will use the Toureka app to help guide visitors around the area and be sure they hit every studio. The Art Walk also encourages visitors to sample the restaurants and other stores of downtown Newmarket, and is sponsored by a number of local businesses. The Art Walk was created by the Newmarket Group of Artists, which also distributes the annual Shannon Phair Award and holds a number of smaller events throughout the year.
The 15th annual Newmarket Art Walk and Studio Tour will take place on October 14 and 15 throughout downtown Newmarket.
