Newmarket area to hit links for good cause

After a successful inaugural event, Inn From the Cold will be bringing back its Golf Day fundraiser this July.

The charitable event will offer donors the ability to compete on Aurora’s esteemed Lebovic Golf Course. Up to 132 golfers will hit up all 18 holes, with a golf cart, two meals and drinks included in the ticket price, as well as two complimentary rounds on the course at some point in the following two months.

The goal of the event is to raise $30,000 during the summer season, which is when many charities see a dip in donations. For this reason, golf events and other outings have become popular fundraising events, often using promotional tools such as brochure printing and social media. Organizer Ann Watson described the event as a social occasion in a statement:

“It's an opportunity to get together with good friends or people you work with, enjoy a day and at the same time be giving back.”

Funds raised will go towards Inn From The Cold’s efforts to house people at risk in the Newmarket area. The organization recently expanded to year-long operations, including its daytime Drop Inn program to provide basic services like showering and internet access, along with the skill-building Getting Ahead classes. The organization also holds the annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk during the winter.

The 2022 edition of Inn From the Cold’s Golf Day will take place on July 6 at Lebovic Golf Course.
