Music festival to return to Newmarket area
A major York region music festival is making its return this January, as Winterfest takes the stage with a number of indie music stars.
This will be the fourth annual edition of Wintersong, a free festival created to encourage visitors to the area in the depths of winter. Headlining the two-day festival are Juno-award winning songsmith Dan Mangan, Montreal-based indie-pop group Stars and 80s hitmakers Men Without Hats. A number of other independent music artists have also been announced for the event, including Polaris Prize finalist OMBIIGIZI and the Jerome Tucker Band, along with local acts such as Man Made Forest and Evan Farrell.
The festival aims to include over 100 acts in total, which will be spread out across 15 venues throughout the town of Stouffville, including everything from traditional concert halls to retail spaces. Wintersong typically draws thousands of fans from nearby York region areas such as Newmarket, as well as the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario as a whole.
Music festivals such as this typically use tools such as flyer printing and radio advertising to bring together a diverse audience of music lovers. There will also be art installations and interactive experiences taking place throughout the festival.
The 2023 edition of Wintersong will take place on January 20 and 21 throughout the town of Stouffville.
