Lucky market to make stop in Newmarket

This August will see traveling pop-up event the Lucky Lion Night Market stop in Newmarket for a weekend full of rare food and goods.

The Asian-inspired event features a number of local vendors offering over 100 food items, ranging from sushi to shish kebabs, as well as sweet drinks and baked treats. There will also be a bar area with a DJ for attendees over the age of 19. For younger visitors and the young-at-heart, there are interactive activities such as interactive lion dancing, photo ops, workshops, claw machines, and more.

The market will also be looking to inform people on York Region’s diverse culture and local volunteer opportunities:

“Learn about community members and how you can make an impact. Our mission is to create accessible community events that construct positive perceptions of diversity and welcome active community participation.”

This will be the first time the Lucky Lion market is held in Newmarket, and it will come following summer stops in Markham and Hamilton. The series is inspired by the night markets held in Asia that have spread to North America, offering summer fun as well as special deals and often Promotional Products.

The Lucky Lion markets are run by the Sprout Organization, a youth-led non-profit that aims to connect people to cultural heritage. The markets have been run since 2019.

The pop-up Lucky Lion event will come to Newmarket from August 11 to 13 at Upper Canada Mall.
