The East Gwillimbury Public Library will be bringing back its popular series of author talks next month, highlighting local writers.
The event series has been taking place since 2004, with past talks taking place in the East Gwillimbury Civic Centre. The series aims to bring prominent authors to the York Region, including nearby municipalities like Newmarket. The chats are organized in part by the East Gwillimbury Public Library, which helps to distribute Copies of the Books.
Readings, question-and-answer sessions and other literary events, often advertised through tools like flyer printing, can offer crucial exposure for authors in all genres.
For the first time, the library will be hosting its author talks via digital streaming this March, with the virtual series dubbed Book Chats. The featured writer will be bestselling author Mary Lawson, who has been writing novels set in Northern Ontario for over a decade. The event will be promoting Lawson’s new book “A Town Called Solace”, which tells a story about grief and remorse through three different perspectives. The discussion will be guided by Councillor Tara Roy-DiClemente.
The first edition of Book Chats with Mary Lawson will take place on March 18 over Zoom. The library is selling tickets to the virtual event, with the optional inclusion of a purchase of A Town Called Solace, including a signed book plate.
