Two years after its beginning as an EVENTMRKT pop-up restaurant, Ghost Taco finally opened the doors to its brand-new, permanent home on December 1.
The permanent location has been in the works since back in October of 2022, and it was originally estimated that it would open in February of 2023.
Co-owner Samantha Buckley also co-owns Ground Burger Bar, along with EVENTMRKT. The taco pop-up first started as a way to keep people employed during COVID-19 lockdowns.
Ghost Taco’s new permanent home can be found at Cafe Hesed’s former Main Street address. Response to the new location has been positive from Newmarket locals, particularly on social media. New restaurant openings are the perfect occasion to invest in banner printing for business owners.
Those who came out on opening day were excited to finally try Ghost Taco’s food after a long wait. The menu features options like crispy Korean chicken, poblano con queso, birria supreme and charred brussels sprouts.
Tacos are not all that is on the menu. Those who prefer burrito bowls can either pick one of Ghost Taco’s specialty bowls or build their own. The restaurant also offers sides like chili lime Brussels, ancho chili fries, and pico and chips.
Buckley says they plan to work on franchising Ghost Taco in the future. According to its website, Ghost Taco plans to open in Whitby and Peterborough in 2024.
