Festival will celebrate Newmarket diversity

The Around the World Multicultural Festival is set to visit Newmarket next month.

The event will celebrate the many different cultural backgrounds of the city's residents. It will feature over 20 dance, music and theatrical presentations from the area’s cultural groups.

There will be plenty of children's activities on offer, such as bouncy castles, make-and-take crafts, games, face painting, and train rides on the Tim Hortons Express. In addition, there will also be over 50 vendor, food and informational booths.

No doubt arts and crafts vendors in attendance will be selling a variety of items which represent various cultural backgrounds. This might include jewelry, clothing, paintings and decorative accessories for the home. Local cultural and charity organizations will also be providing information about their programs and the services they provide for the community.

Vendors who want to participate in the festival can rent space for $60 or $30 for a non-profit organization; they must bring their own tables, chairs and canopies. It's likely that many will be working with Newmarket printing companies to prepare for the festival. This might include Banners for decoration and informational Brochures to hand out.

The festival is currently looking for volunteers to help out with various activities and to make sure everything runs smoothly.

The Around the World Multicultural Festival will take place at Fairy Lake Park on July 20 from 10:00am - 4:00pm. To find more information, or to volunteer for the festival, contact Deanna Smith at 905-895-5193 x2659.
