Conference will bring Yorks arts community together

The 3rd annual York Region Arts and Culture Conference is taking place in Markham over two days next month. The conference is a presentation of the York Region Arts Council and several other arts organizations in the area.

The conference is expected to attract not only artists but business leaders, those working in tourism and culture, non-profit organizations, and educators. It will feature a variety of interactive discussions among participants and hosts.

The first day will start off with a breakfast which will be followed by opening remarks by Thom Ernst of TVO. During the conference, there will also be a networking reception, an art exhibition, panel discussions, and a series of talks. Topics of talks include ‘Art of Creative Placement: Learning from the US Experience’, ‘The Power of Storytelling’, ‘Artist Success Stories’, and ‘Place-based Cultural Tourism: Why 'Place' is the Key to Cultural Tourism and How you can Unlock its Treasures’.

The conference should attract a wide variety of participants from all over the York region, including nearby Newmarket. Those who work for graphic arts and printing companies might also be interested in attending the conference.

Arts Exposed 2013 will take place at Seneca College's Markham Campus from October 4-5. Tickets are $60 per day or $110 for two days; members of any of the organizations involved in the event can purchase tickets for $54 or $99 for both days.
