The Canadian Red Cross is offering a course that will allow first responders to make sure they are up to date in their knowledge.
The First Responder Course, which will be hosted by Coast2Coast First Aid and CPR in Markham, is intended for those who work as first responders, or those in another field where they may be called upon to provide emergency prehospital care. The learning will be spread out over four days, and the certification will be valid for the next four years.
The 40 hours of education will cover the process of providing emergency care from the moment a responder first comes onto the scene. The course will discuss how to establish priorities and how to treat traumatic injuries and other emergencies, and special populations will be on the agenda as well. Each learner will be expected to supply their own kit of supplies, and the registration fee is $500.
Those who successfully complete the training and pass the knowledge test and scenario citation will receive their certification. A flyer printing shop can prepare items like certificates and wallet cards, which the graduates in a workshop like this can use to indicate they have been certified.
The start date for this educational opportunity for Markham’s first responders will be July 10th. It will be offered at 1080 Tapscott Road.
