Markham holiday attraction to get prehistoric

Markham will play host to an unusual winter attraction this December when the Dino Holiday theme park rolls into town.

Dino Holiday combines two kid-friendly themes into one indoor park encompassing 50,000 square feet. There will be 45 large animatronic dinosaurs standing alongside holiday lights and wreaths. The dinosaurs are designed to be life-sized based on current research and will move and make sounds throughout.

In addition, there will be a photo opportunity with Santa Claus on a pterodactyl-pulled sleigh, as well as a station for young visitors to write letters to the Big Guy in Red. The park markets itself as a way to fulfill childhood dreams of walking among ancient dinosaurs.

Around the dinosaur display will be a broader indoor fair, which will include carnival rides and midway games. The rides include a carousel, maze, bumper cars, motorcycles, and more. Food and drink will also be provided by local vendors.

Dino Holiday provides group ticket packages with ride fare included for groups of four, as well as individual tickets. Seasonal attractions like this pop up frequently around the holidays for a limited time, sometimes using poster printing and local media to spread the word about their arrival.

Dino Holiday will take place at the Markham Fairgrounds daily between December 17 and January 3. Masks and proof of vaccination are required for all visitors.
