Thorndale’s Purple Hill Country Opry, a respected live music venue, will return this month with a new “Cruise In Concert” series.
The Opry will be hosting two consecutive nights of live music, each dedicated to different genres. The first night will feature a blues theme, headlined by guitarist Bill Durst and also including Tim Woodcock, with Cheryl Lescom and The Chris Trowell Band. Night two is all about country music, with The Good Brothers supported by Thorn and Roses, the Purple Hill Country Show Band, Scott Bollert and Shelly Rastin.
The new event is part of a new trend of drive-in concerts that are becoming increasingly popular across North America. Events like these are often advertised through tools like poster printing, as well as drawing on the musicians’ existing fanbases. The Opry has gone through extensive consultation with the Middlesex-London Health Unit to ensure safety at the show. Promoters have also said that they plan to hold similar events throughout the summer.
Cruise-In Concerts will begin with the blues night headlined by Durst on July 10, followed by The Good Brothers’ country night on the 11th at the Purple Hill Country Opry’s rustic outdoor site. The venue, once a farm and now a frequent location for concerts, weddings, and other events, is expected to provide space for up to 500 cars.
