Forest City Gallery will be holding its second A/V Nights fundraiser this May, looking to combine visual art with electronic music to create unique experiences.
The event will see live electronic and experimental performances paired with visuals by Ontario artist fongkikid, created specifically to react to the audio. Live performers include techno artists Mothers Against Drum Machines, the electronic sounds of Turbo Tambourine, and Cailen and the Electric Bride, an act that includes the violin, drums, and sampled sounds. The event is supported by the London Arts Council.
The downstairs area will also include the visual artistic installation “Polyrhythmic Illumination”, with 16 light bars operating at different rhythms to create unique effects. The work was previously exhibited at Winterfest in Cambridge. Lianne Zannier has also curated a program of modern experimental films, which will be screened between each musical performance.
Visitors can get to know the artists through a question and answer session at the start of the night. Proceeds from the event will go to support the artist-run Forest City Gallery, which includes exhibitions of artists from the community as well as professionalizing workshops. Fundraisers like this often use flyer printing and presentations to help raise awareness of the cause they are supporting.
A/V Nights 2 will take place on the evening of May 2 at Honey Dip & DoughEV in London.
