Residents of Kitchener-Waterloo are invited to play their role in helping to keep their community green, in more ways than one.
The 2016 Community Tree Planting will see people from all over the area come together to plant trees in public spaces. It is suitable for any age, and the young trees, planting advice, information, and snacks will be provided to all those who take part.
It is recommended that those who wish to participate arrive dressed in clothing appropriate for the weather, with sturdy, comfortable shoes or boots, along with gloves and a willingness to work hard. The trees planted will help to clean the air, divert runoff, provide living space for wildlife and reduce the effects of climate change.
The event will take place on May 7 starting at 10:00 am at Snyder’s Flats, and will run until noon. Parking is available on site. CAA South Central Ontario, Grand River Conservation Authority, Forests Ontario, and TD Friends of the Environment have all partnered to sponsor the event. Promotional Pens can be designed for events such as this, and can be given out as a way of saying thank you to everyone who lent a helping hand with the planting.
Those who are interested in participating are asked to register ahead of time, as limited spaces are available. More information and a chance to register can be found on the 2016 Community Tree Plant Kitchener-Waterloo website.
