A popular craft in the 1970s, macrame has been making a resurgence in recent times, and a Kitchener workshop series will teach attendees some of the basics of the art.
The classes, which will be held at the Homer Watson House and Gallery, will introduce an assortment of macrame knots and techniques using hands-on teaching methods. Everyone will make a plant hanger to use in their own home, and the activity is suitable for older teens and adults.
The facilitator will teach various knots that are used when making macrame pieces, and the project will be completed during the classes. A list of supplies that are required has been provided ahead of the series so that everyone who registers will be able to obtain them well in advance. It is intended for those who have limited to no experience, and the ticket price starts at $90.
Hands-on learning sessions like this offer the public a chance to learn a new hobby. Print shops will be able to help take care of the marketing side of hosting these activities by supplying flyer printing and other promotional services.
The Homer Watson House and Gallery has made plans to offer this four-part class series starting on June 1st. The other dates for the series will be June 8th, 15th and 22nd, and they will all run from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm.
