Kitchener museum to host Starry Night

The Friends of Waterloo Region Museums will be bringing their Starry Night holiday celebration back to Kitchener this December, aiming to transport visitors back in time for Yuletide festivities.

The event will see the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum and Doon Heritage Village transformed into a traditional lantern-lit town, with over 100 traditional lamps and lanterns. Visitors can explore historic buildings and enjoy holiday treats such as sweets and apple cider. There will also be festive music by local performers and participatory carolling for all.

The Starry Night event will also see a visit from a “special guest”, with families able to take photos with the big man in red among the historic backdrop. The two-night festival will also feature a raffle on each evening, with winners taking home gift baskets. Proceeds from tickets will go towards the Friends of Waterloo Region Museums, helping to provide more cultural programming like this in the new year.

Attendees are encouraged to dressed warmly for Starry Night, as most of the event will be outdoors. Nonprofit organizations often use events like this to both raise money and help connect with new members of the community, with methods such as flyer printing and social media used to attract visitors.

The 2025 edition of Starry Night will take place at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum and Doon Heritage Village on December 19 and 20.
