The LINK Picnic Festival is taking place in Kitchener next month for two days.
The festival is a showcase of both African and Caribbean culture. There will be plenty of traditional food and drink to purchase and many other family-friendly activities.
One of the most popular events is likely to be the Carnival costume parade. Anyone is welcomed to participate and costumes can be borrowed on site. Trophies will be awarded to the top male and female participants, as well as top family.
There will be music in a variety of genres including steelpan provided in three different areas of the park: the Drumming Village, Steelpan Yard and the main stage. Guests can participate in interactive drumming activities in the Drumming Village and many local musical artists will be performing on the main stage. There will also be an Art Village that will showcase the works of local artisans and a Children’s Village. The Children’s Village will feature sports and games, arts and craft activities, and competitions such as a limbo contest.
Other activities will include Zumba, domino tournaments and face painting. When Kitchener event organizers need printed products for this sort of occasion, they often contact local Stationery printers.
The LINK Picnic Festival will be held at Victoria Park from August 25 to 26. Admission is free of charge. For the most current information about this event, call 519-721-5746.
