The Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters’ Guild will be holding its annual fair this September, aiming to highlight local crafts and build community.
The KW Knitters’ Fair will feature two arenas full of vendors and exhibitors related to knitting and other fabric crafts, offering yarn, tools and accessories. Vendors include family farms, area yarn shops and independent yarn shops. Dozens of vendors were selected through an online application process, with some names involved including A Juggling Ewe, Je Laine Yarns and Pretty String Yarn Co.
As with past editions of the event, the Knitters’ Fair will include a yarn-winding station to help tidy stray yarn purchases. The station raises money for charity, with this year’s beneficiary to be announced in the lead-up to the fair. The festival is largely supported by the efforts of volunteers, who are easily identified by their purple sashes.
The fair is one of the oldest and biggest one-day knitting events in Canada, and also helps to support the Guild throughout the year as it runs events and offers an opportunity for knitters in the Tri-City area to meet and share their projects and supplies. Hobby events like this often use methods like social media and commission flyer printing to help raise awareness and connect with the community.
The 2025 KW Knitters’ Fair will take place at the Kinsmen and Kiwanis Arenas at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on September 13.
