Kitcher workshop focuses on embracing wildlife at home

Supporting a healthy population of pollinators is about to get a lot easier for Kitchener residents, with a class on bringing wildlife to yards coming soon on the horizon.

Whether they have a huge property out in the country or a pot of flowers on their patio or doorstep, almost everyone can offer bees, butterflies, and other pollinators a helping hand. An upcoming workshop will explore different ways of doing so, and wildlife diversity will be the order of the day.

The attendees at the function will discover five entry-level environmental stewardship practices they can incorporate into their plantings; one of these is choosing a suitable design. It was explained that fall can be a great time of the year for working on a garden, and everyone is reminded to bring an aerial photo of their site. Becca Robinson will serve as the facilitator for the evening, enlightening attendees with stories from her many years of expertise.

Gardening has become increasingly popular in many communities, so a class like this can make it easy for the public to get started. The participants may appreciate Copies of handouts and other learning materials; these can be prepared by area Stationery printers.

The ‘How to Naturalize Your Yard’ workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 26. The Forest Heights Library will be providing space for the occasion.
