The largest such celebration in North America, Kitchener’s annual celebration of Oktoberfest has announced plans for its 2025 edition.
The festival will feature a number of events spread across a two-month period, all inspired by the traditional Bavarian harvest festival. The formal festival will kick off with downtown Kitchener becoming an official Wilkommen Platz, mimicking a bustling German village with authentic cuisine, food, and artisan vendors. There will also be live musical performers, the official opening keg-tapping and an indoor market located in Kitchener City Hall.
Local farmers and produce vendors will take part in FARMtoberfest, featuring agricultural animals, machinery and educational exhibits presented by Farm Food Care Ontario. One returning tradition will be the Hockey with Hans ball hockey tournament, with youth teams ranging from under 19 to under 18 competing in friendly games across two days. Local music venues like Koolhaus will host a number of associated concerts, including names like 54.40 and Amanda Marshall.
Young visitors can take place in KIDtoberfest and other family activities hosted by various businesses like the Schwaben Club. Events will conclude the following weekend at an Oktoberfest Carnival, hosted at Recharge & Play Wellness. Oktoberfest events are celebrated around the world and are often celebrated with distinctive banner printing, signage and outfits.
Kitchener’s 2025 Oktoberfest celebrations will take place around the city from October 2 to 19.
