Kitchener workshop to craft botanical-based paper

Paper can be made from wood pulp, as well as hemp and a variety of other plant-based fibres, and this will be explored during a makers workshop planned for the Kitchener area.

The Waterloo Public Library has made plans to offer a class that will introduce the basic principles and techniques of paper making. The projects will incorporate an assortment of materials, and it will be offered in person.

The workshop will explore how different botanicals can add additional colour and texture to paper. The final results can then be used in a variety of ways, such as making mixed media crafts, and seeds may even be mixed in so it can then be planted out in the garden for others to enjoy. The session is for adults only, and is limited to those aged 19 and up. It will be taking place at the library branch located at 2001 University Avenue East.

Continuing education classes like this give adults a way to continue learning throughout their lives. A flyer printing company will have lots of different ways on offer to promote a function throughout the community.

The Botanical Papermaking Workshop will offer a simple introduction to the art and science of botanical papermaking at 7:30 pm on November 10th. It will be offered in the library’s Program Room, and it will run until 8:00 pm.
