The Kitchener Waterloo and Area branch of United Way reached its $5 million target for 2012 and with the help of poster printing it hopes to raise even more this year.
Celebrations have been planned for donors and volunteers who helped contribute to the 2012 success. The event on February 28 will also include a delicious hot breakfast and a presentation for the United Way’s Community Spirit Award winners.
The Spirit Awards recognize both individuals and organizations that have helped make a difference in the local community. The Kitchener-Waterloo division will also host an online dream auction in March.
The United Way works with several media partners and uses a number of media materials to make campaigns as successful as possible. Alongside the support and efforts of local volunteers, public poster printing and brochure printing in local resident mailboxes are important ways of creating awareness about upcoming events and important social issues.
Printed advertising is an indispensable tool for local charities to reach the community and encourage donations. Techniques such as banner printing and flyer printing will continue to be important as the United Way continues to find new ways of promoting its campaign tool kit.
Cambridge and North Dumfries may be more dependent on local printing companies in 2013 as their campaign fell $55,709 short of the target of $1,082,012.
Donor contributions go towards investing in social support networks in individual communities. The United Way is currently working on meeting a three year $21 million fundraising target through partnering with workplaces, securing sponsorships and getting event and communication material sponsorship.
