Home care and support services in the region of Kitchener-Waterloo are being re-assessed and may need to be restructured to meet a consistent model used by community care services across Ontario, a supervisor appointed by the province of Ontario will soon decide. There may also be a demand for printing services to help spread word about upcoming changes in the Waterloo region.
Organization has been an ongoing issue in home care and support services at the Community Care Assess Centre in the Waterloo region, which was without a leader until mid-July. The Waterloo-Wellington Local Health Integration Network intentionally requested a provincial intestate supervisor to help regulate and implement some structural changes needed in this region of Ontario.
Brenda Fleming, appointed supervisor to oversee the center, will be looking to the community for input in her role in adopting a new service model for all community access centers to follow, including the Kitchener-Waterloo facility. Fleming is meeting with the board chair and will also be faced with the task of appointing Kitchener centre’s new CEO. The senior director of human resources and organizational development is currently filling the CEO position, until the interim role is permanently filled.
The desire for public input from Kitchener and local residents may give local printers a role in helping to implement a new home care and support services model. Local printing companies can provide invaluable printing services to help support the initiative, by way of brochure printing of the new service models or mailed questionnaires to existing Kitchener or Waterloo residents for input on the current quality of home care services.
