Word on the Street, the national book and magazine festival, is taking place in Kitchener later this month. Kitchener is one of five cities across the country which will be hosting the event.
This annual show attracts thousands of visitors who come to revel in all things literary. Activities will be taking place all over downtown Kitchener throughout the day, with the main area being King Street, surrounding City Hall.
There will be several areas set up, including the Kitchener Public Library Tent, the Waterloo Region Record Stage, the Art Market Stage, and Off the Page, which is being hosted by the Canadian League of Poets. The In Conversation with Grand Life Magazine tent will also entertain visitors. Some of the confirmed authors who will be in attendance at Word on the Street are Linwood Barclay, James Cunningham, Mary Swan, Lloyd Robertson, and Meg Tilly.
Other areas will be the Department of Canadian Heritage Kids Square which will feature plenty of child friendly activities and the CTV Marketplace. This will house a number of literary organizations, publishers, and authors. Food will also be available for purchase.
Kitchener Print companies have no doubt been helping organizers prepare for the event. This is likely to involve the supplying of Posters and marketing materials.
Word on the Street will take place in downtown Kitchener on September 21 from 11:00am - 5:00pm. Admission is free. To learn more about the festival, visit the official website.
