Kitchener residents invited to rock the night away in support of others

Early this winter, Kitchener will be playing host to an evening that will combine food, fun, and rock and roll.

Strummerfest will offer a casual atmosphere, with plenty of time to socialize with old friends and acquaintances and meet new ones. The night will kick off with a British-themed meal where guests can choose between fish and chips, vegetarian curry or steak and kidney pie, one of two soups and their choice of desserts.

The musical portion of the festivities will be provided live, with performances by local artists such as Carrie Humphries, Drew Leith, Ian Smith, Nick Skalkos, and Vienna D'Amato Hall. Representatives of the featured charities will also take to the stage to share information about their group and what it does to help others.

The event will be rounded off with more live music from Kensington Hillbillys, Skipnoize and T.c. Folkpunk. According to the organizers, the music will be an eclectic mix with something to offer for everyone. Monies raised through the night of food and music will be donated to not-for-profit groups in the local area. A booklet printing service can be called upon to produce programs and other promotional materials for this type of function.

Tickets are $40 each, and donations to the charities are also welcomed. Strummerfest will be held in Kitchener’s The Boathouse on December 22.
