Kitchener meal to feature freshly foraged fungi

When it comes to their favourite wild mushroom, the bright orange chanterelle is often at the top of the list for Kitchener gourmands. An upcoming event will put this storied fungus front and centre, and it will be accompanied by other wild Edibles.

The foodies who sign up for Puck’s Plenty Forage and Feast’s Socca with Chanterelle Ragout will enjoy a sumptuous meal. Furthermore, they will even have a chance to go out and gather a variety of ingredients from the wild before they enjoy their food.

During the foraging excursion, the participants will gather chanterelles as well as oyster mushrooms, puffballs and even some bolete mushrooms, and they will also be collecting wild leeks, wild ginger and watercress. After this, they will make their return to The Forest Motel where they will be treated to a four course meal featuring the ingredients they have gathered.

When it is time for the guests to head for home, they will each be taking some of the chanterelles home with them to use in their own kitchen. Cards can be prepared by Print shops to include recipes that use wild foraged Edibles, and these can be handed out to each person who attends this type of function.

Those who are looking for a way to add some extra excitement to their culinary life may wish to add this event to their agenda. Held on September 5, it will be offered at the Packham Sports Complex, and the tickets, which are expected to sell out fast, are $80 each.
