An eclipse is one of the wonders of the natural world, and an upcoming Kitchener event will help kids take in the experience safely.
Youngsters from ages 7 to 12 have been offered seats in an activity that will explore eclipses in anticipation of the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8th. These occurrences happen when the shadow of the moon crosses the earth, and April’s event will be a total eclipse.
During the session, the kids will learn how and why an eclipse happens, and what to expect. Safety tips for viewing the spectacle will be shared, and everyone will go home with a free pair of glasses they can use to view the event safely and not damage their eyes. Each child needs to be registered individually. Children aged 10 and under will need to have an adult in the building throughout the function. The event will be facilitated by scientists from the University of Waterloo.
An eclipse or other natural phenomena can be a fun way to get kids interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subjects. Promotional Pens and other small items for an activity like this one can be ordered from a local Print shop.
The Eclipse Workshop with UW's Let's Talk Science will start at 2:30 pm on Friday, March 15th, taking place at 2001 University Avenue East.
