A day has been planned for the Kitchener area that will give the public an opportunity to ride their bikes in a show of support for those living with mental health issues.
Ride Don’t Hide will see families and individuals of all ages pedaling along one of the routes that will be set up for the day. The paths will wind through St. Jacobs, and several options are available. The riders can choose from the 8-kilometer family friendly path or challenge themselves to complete the 80-kilometer route. Both 25 and 47 kilometer choices will also be available.
The event will serve to raise funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association, and will also seek to raise awareness about mental illness and remove the stigma that surrounds it. It is open to all, and everyone is welcome to come out and show their support.
The Hub Bicycle Shop will be lending a helping hand by donating its services for the day to help any riders who have issues with their bike. A local printer can supply pop-up Banners and other promotional items for an event such as this.
The riders will set out from the St. Jacobs Lions Club, which is located at 29 Parkside Drive. June 25 has been selected as the date for the function, and more information about it has been added to the event’s website.
