Kitchener class to cover herbal teas

Herbs add zest and flavour to many types of dishes, and an upcoming Kitchener event will introduce these plants to the public, as well as offering the chance to do some tea taste testing.

Doon Heritage Village is home to an extensive collection of culinary herbs, and the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum has scheduled a class that will explore how they can be made into tasty herbal. Advance registration is mandatory, and tickets are $31.59 each.

The session will be led by herb expert Bob Wildfong, and there will be 10 freshly brewed blends to try. The attendees will learn about the historical use of herbs, and ways to harvest, clean and store these plants will be discussed as well. Everyone will also have the chance to pick up some new horticultural skills when they prepare their own planting to take home.

Herbal teas and other plant-based beverages have been enjoying a resurgence in popularity, and a workshop like this provides the chance to learn about them and even do some sampling. Small printed Envelopes can be a good way to store ingredients for future use, and these can be prepared for distribution during such a class by area Stationery printers.

The Growing and Using Herbs session will be on offer on August 10th. It will begin at 9:00 am. Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite.
