The Dirty Dash obstacle course and race is taking place in Waterloo next month. The event will raise funds for Special Olympics Ontario, Kitchener-Waterloo Chapter.
Those taking part will get to choose between three different courses to run: the 8K, the 4K and the 1K Kid's Fun Run for children aged 12 and under. Everyone competing will receive a completion certificate and sticker.
There are several age categories based on 5-year increments, as well as one for those up to 12 and one for people aged 70 and over. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in each age category. Part of the course includes a 30ft mud pit which everyone will have to pass through. There will be prizes to recognise the most original outfit, the craziest hair, the dirtiest competitor and the most outstanding belly slide.
The first 500 people who register for the event will receive a free t-shirt. There will also be prize drawings, fundraising perks for those who raise a minimum of $50, refreshments, and post-race entertainment.
This race is likely to attract participants and spectators from the Kitchener Waterloo area. Local printing companies are also expected to provide pledge Forms to those who wish to take part.
The 4th annual Dirty Dash will take place in Bechtel Park on July 14 from 9:00am - 3:00pm. Registration fees are $40 for the 8K, $35 for the 4K and $30 for the 1K Kid's Fun Run. For more information, contact Lloyd Schmidt at 226-750-0017.
