Career conference for schoolgirls to take place in Kitchener

The Build a Dream Kitchener-Waterloo conference is taking place next month in Kitchener.

The one-day conference is aimed at schoolgirls from grades 9 through 12 and their parents. They will learn about possible careers and educational opportunities from local organizations.

There will be a keynote address by Jamie McMillan, a journeyman ironworker and the founder of Kickass Careers. There will also be a panel discussion from successful female mentors who will be discussing ‘My journey to success’.

Attendees will have the chance to visit exhibit booths hosted by local employers and will be able to make connections with them. In addition, Conestoga College will be hosting several activities in the Dream Zone. There will also be a photo booth, door prizes and scholarships will be awarded throughout the day. A boxed dinner will be served to all guests.

Exhibit booths are still available to local employers and cost $250 each.

This event is a good way for young girls to learn about what they may want to do after graduation. Kitchener flyer printing companies are often asked to help advertise events like this.

The Build a Dream Kitchener-Waterloo conference will be held at Bingemans Conference Centre on April 2 from 5pm-9pm. Admission to students and their parents from Waterloo Region schools is free and $25 for anyone else. Visit the event website to learn more.
