Annual event highlights local food

The 100 Mile Feast 2014 is taking place this June. It is hosted by the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce.

The event will be hosted by Andrew Cappolino from Waterloo Region Eats. Chef Lori Maidlow and her assistants will be back for another year to prepare a gourmet meal using only ‘locally sourced’ ingredients. The theme of this year's feast is ‘The Parisian Experience’, and all dishes will be French-inspired. The food, of course, will be paired with local wines. It is a perfect opportunity for residents to understand how much food is available to them in their own backyard.

There are sponsorships available for businesses that want to support this highlighting of the area’s foods and producers. To find out how, call Heather Hutchings at 519-749-6036.

The local food movement has taken off in North America and many people go out of their way to attend events such as this. No doubt the feast will be widely advertised in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Organizers often invest in services such as flyer printing to help get the word out.

The 100 Mile Feast is being held at the Waterloo Inn Conference Hotel on June 23rd from 6:00pm - 10:00pm. Tickets are $150 each or $1,200 for a table of eight. For more information, contact Julie Tedesco at 519-749-6052.
