A Kitchener-Waterloo not-for-profit organization that works to protect animals has announced that it recently received a generous grant from a national level retailer, and it is excited to be able to use this for the benefit of the local community.
The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth was given a $30,000 grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada. The group explained that it plans on using the funding to help meet the expenses of its Community Veterinary Outreach Program, as well as several other initiatives.
The area will benefit through measures such as free and low-cost spay and neutering clinics, as well as wellness care and preventative medicine to pet owners who are homeless or at risk of losing their residence.
The society’s Executive Director pointed out that, due to COVID, the financial situation for many local residents has become uncertain, and if they know they won’t have to worry about accessing veterinary care for their animal companion, it can help to relieve stress and positively impact their overall mental health.
Many not-for-profit groups choose to recognize the generosity of their donors and other supporters by presenting them with Corporate Gifts, such as a plaque or other customized item.
The society explained it plans on putting this funding to use as soon as possible. More information about the grant and how it will benefit the community can be found on its website.
