The 2013 Toronto-area MS Walk is due to take place on the first Sunday of May. Communities throughout the country will be holding walks to raise funds for the MS Society of Canada.
The theme of the walk is ‘every step matters’. Those participating in the MS Walk can choose between 5K and 10K in distance. They then collect pledges to help support the MS Society. Those who raise at least $125 in pledges will receive a free t-shirt.
Like with many walks of this kind, those with wheelchairs and other mobility aids are welcome to take part. In addition to the walk, there will be speeches, coffee, lunch and music from the Cassiopeia Drum Corps. Prizes will also be handed out to the teams which raise the most money for the cause.
Local companies and organizations are encouraged to form teams to take part in the MS Walk. The suggested fundraising goal is $500. This will be an excellent team building exercise and a way for companies to show they are concerned about helping the community in which they work and live.
Teams and individuals will no doubt come from towns all over the region, including Downsview. Organizers of the event will have worked with local printing companies to advertise the upcoming walk through Flyers and Posters.
