Home handymen and women from Downsview will now be able to borrow more than just ‘how-to’ Books form the local branch of the Toronto Public Library.
The Toronto Tool Library recently formed a partnership with the facility, and the move will see the Downsview branch being able to provide equipment for its patrons to hire. For a $50.00 yearly membership, people can take out a variety of home repair equipment for a stretch of up to five days.
The goal of this one-year trial project is to encourage membership in the tool library. According to its director, many different branches were considered, and it was felt that the Downsview location would be the most suitable, as it contains the space required to set up and operate the lending service. Renovations will be conducted to get it ready, and it is expected that it will be up and running by the end of April.
The plan calls for the two institutions to cooperate on promotions, and a printing company will be able to help with this. The Downsview Library has agreed to not only grant the use of its space but also its brand, and this can be incorporated into promotional materials.
Current members of the Toronto Public Library will be offered a $5.00 discount off the cost of membership. A grand opening is planned for April 30th.Get a Free Quote for Books
