Bombardier already has a customer for the new aircraft; Nok Air, a low-cost airline in Thailand, has agreed to buy at least six and up to eight Q400 NextGens for $30 million each.
The turboprop plane is being marketed as the most efficient of its kind in the world, with over twice the horsepower of a conventional turboprop aircraft, low fuel consumption, and low emissions. It also holds 86 passengers, which is more than other planes used by regional carriers in Southeast Asia.
Frank Baistrocchi, Bombardier’s regional vice-president of sales in the Asia Pacific region, remarked:
“The plane, which can fly about 1,000 miles before refuelling, is more economical and profitable than similar aircraft. Ticket prices can be cheaper. The airline can make more money.”
With the unveiling of this new aircraft, it is possible that Bombardier has hired a printing company for the purposes of business card printing.
