Spring show highlights Willowdale arts group

The 66th Willowdale Group of Artists is holding its Juried Spring Art Show from April to May in North York.

The group is made up of both professional and amateur artists. Those participating in the show will be competing for several honors, including Best in Show, Best Landscape, Floral, and Abstract. There will also be several honorable mentions. The judges are Sam Paonessa and Peter Marsh.

In addition, the WGA Endowment Award winner, Jo Wong, will be introduced and will help out at the awards ceremony when it takes place on the first night of the show. The endowment is a scholarship given to a student of the arts at York University.

There are expected to be over 100 paintings on display, which will include oils, watercolors, and acrylics. All of the works are also for sale, and a portion of the proceeds goes to support the WGA award.

The show will likely be advertised all over North York, including the Downsview and Willowdale areas. Local printing companies are usually asked to help provide advertising materials, such as Posters and Flyers. These items can then be posted in public buildings or delivered door to door by volunteers.

The Willowdale Group of Artists' Juried Spring Art Show will be held at the North York Civic Centre from April 19th to May 2nd from 9:00am - 6:00pm each day. Admission is free. To learn more about the event or the group, contact Margie Wagner at 416-590-1296.
