Downsview residents have plenty of native species of plants in their yard, balcony or other garden, and these can be as beautiful as they are tough. The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) wants to let the public know how beneficial they can be to the local environment, and has created an exhibit that will be dedicated to native plants.
The ROM’s Biodiversity Gallery will be the location for a day of learning that will be focused on exploring native plants and what makes them such a great choice for the garden. Attendees will be able to learn how they can get started, and both container and “in the ground” planting will be included.
Emily Rondel will be acting as the facilitator for the activity, and attendees can gather information, ask questions and find out how they can give proper TLC to a native planting. The event can be helpful to all, whether their plot is a huge field or tiny container, and those who register for the day will also be treated to lunch.
Gardening guides can be distributed to participants who get involved in this type of function, and these can be printed and bound by a local printing services company.
The ROM will be going native on March 29th, and the workshop will begin at 10:30am. The fee for the registrants will be $90 each.
