The Toronto Wildlife Centre in Downsview Park recently became the home of a rare Ontario bird.
Emi Szabo, who has rescued injured animals before, noticed a small bird clinging tightly to one of the walls of Earl Haig Secondary School. She took a closer look, and realized that the creature was hurt and needed help.
She called her mom and carefully removed the bird from the wall. Her mother took a few minutes to identify it, finding out that it was a chimney swift. She then made a call to the Downsview wildlife rehabilitation centre, and was told that these birds are a threatened species and that they should bring it in so that it could be looked after by its team.
People often find injured birds that have hit walls or windows, or been attacked by a predator. Most want to help, but may not be sure of what to do. A printing company can produce Flyers, Posters, and other materials that give information about what steps to take should one find a wounded animal.
According to a representative from the centre, Nathalie Karvonen, this tiny patient is recovering well and receiving medication to help it heal. She remarked that the bird has a chance of healing properly, which is due to the quick action and kindness of the Szabo family.Get a Free Quote for Flyers Get a Free Quote for Posters
